An uneven or cracked driveway can have a surface problem, a support problem, or a combination. This tool organizes the symptoms so you can ask about the appropriate type of work. It does not diagnose concealed conditions or certify the driveway as structurally sound.
What the assessment asks
Record whether your driveway is asphalt, concrete, gravel or pavers; whether damage covers one small area or most of the surface; whether panels have moved vertically; whether potholes repeat; and whether water collects after rain. Note any damage next to a garage or public road. Never open a dangerous structure or perform intrusive testing to answer these questions.
How the results are used
Limited surface wear may point toward maintenance or local patching if the supporting pavement is sound. A settled intact slab may warrant an assessment for lifting. Extensive fractured concrete, recurring asphalt fatigue cracking or poor drainage may warrant a broader repair-versus-replacement comparison.
A category is not a promise that one technique will succeed. Photograph the whole driveway and affected area to help the contractor evaluate what site-specific inspection is necessary. Request an estimate when you're ready.
